  1. it means say someone is questioning a task they must do.the person telling them to do it is pretty much saying it isnt a question out of respectibilaty or respecting something but instead one of principal. i dont know i guess thats how i see it.i can be wrong so dont laugh lolll

    It isn't a question of whether something is well-known and admired, but rather a question of whether it's right or wrong.  An example might be someone saying, "X is a well-respected person.  Most people really look up to him."  And another person saying, "That's true, but I don't appreciate his principles."

  3. I think it means that you should do whats right just because its right, not to gain respect from others.

  4. yall all are wrong it does not take that much thought.....

    It means it doesnt have to do with how you respect someone or whatever is being done but if it is moral to you or if you think its right.....

    like say someone is an authority over you and they say shoot that man's dog...the man wants you to respect him to do it cause he's older and higher....but to do it on principal means that even though he has this position you dont do it because it's wrong and has no principal
