Hello Everyone,

I have been wondering about people's thought's on this movie "Juno". It is about a young teen who gets pregnant and decides to look in the local pennysaver to find adoptive parents. I have been debating back and forth about going to see this movie, I'm not sure how I will react to it. But anyway, do you all feel that it depicts adoption, fairly? I personally feel that it doesn't I mean looking in a pennysaver for a family? Not to sure if that is even legal. Well, anyway I want to know your thoughts.

  1. Yuk.  I won't be watching it.  Finding an ad in pennysaver?  sounds like a pretty accurate description of the American Adoption System - urrrrghhh!

  2. Haven't heard of it. I would watch it though as I like to view things from all perspectives. I thoroughly enjoyed the DiVinci Codes which has gotten me some huge raised eyebrows. What's wrong with the pennysaver anyway? LOL Maybe they want a family that is close or maybe they just don't know where to look and that seemed like a good place to start. I say,go see it and keep an opened mind. You may develope a new perspective and there's nothing wrong with that.

  3. I think so...Her child ends up finding a nice home with parents who really love her.

  4. I've heard of it but from what I've heard, I won't be seeing it.  It sounds like the film's creator doesn't really know much about adoption issues and just wanted to make a "feel good" movie.  I'd rather see something that is based in reality.

  5. Its a M-O-V-I-E.  In some movies, people can fly.  Movies aren't real, they are for entertainment.  I can't wait to see it.

I know some aparents advertise legally in the paper but...I'm not going to give my child to them!  :)

UPDATE:  Wow..ok sorry.  I was joking around and also answering your question.  Everyone here is always soo uptight and sooo serious.  The movie isn't based on a true story so they can pretty much put whatever they want in it.  I think it will be good...as a STORY

  6. I'm planning to see it, perhaps with my son's mom.

It could be interesting, I've seen more than just the standard trailer, and it looks like it might just deal fairly with everyone.

It's not on my "can't wait to see it" list, but if it hits the budgets, we'll see it in the theatre.

  7. Absolutely worth seeing.  I saw it and I thought it was a great movie.  It's gotten great reviews, and it's an independent film, so it's not one of those that just pander to the general mass of moviegoers.   I do think a person can place an ad in any publication looking to do a private adoption.  It's done all the time.  then, of course, if both parties agree, they have to have a lawyer to make everything done legally.  I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone, but it is just a movie.  Juno's decision to place her baby for adoption, and her parents' reactions maybe were a little trite and too easy, but it was still good.  It's mostly funny, and kind of touching once in a while.  It's not  "feel good" mushy movie, but it does end on a good note.  It's interesting because the situation with the adoptive parents changes during the movie in an interesting way.

  8. it's cliche'.  and quite unoriginal.  and the pennysaver bit was offensive.  it reminded me of someone posting an ad for a used car in the sunday classifieds.

  9. Well I have seen the trailer but doubt I will be going to the theater to watch it. It has nothing to do with the movie dealing with adoption. It just doesn’t look like a movie I would pay money for to see in the theater. I’d probably catch it when it goes to TV or In Demand which I’m thinking of getting sometime in  the new year.

  10. I haven't seen it yet, so I can't judge on its depiction of adoption.

For me it's hard to judge a movie based solely on the promos.

I will probably wait until it comes out on ppv as I rarely go to the movies.
