  1. Apparently, Authorized was beaten before the start and didn't handle the track, according to jockey Frankie Dettori. See link:

  2. Nobbled to win a bet.

  3. Horse had a bad day thats all

  4. he was beaten by a better horse.....

  5. Me, i went and bunged frankie a fiver to lose, old bailey here i come LOL

If it helps i was on Zambezi Sun, bloody fallon!

  6. yeah i totally agree with you second suspect i had a handfull of notes to back authorised but for some strange reason i didnt think frankie looked relaxed or comfortable i now he had a nice winner a couple of races before but seeing him on tv shortly before the arc made me a bit nervous and i decided not to back him .

  7. Give up gambling - trial starts this week  about the race fixing - time you people came to your senses.

  8. some say he had the worst draw in the race, some say he'd had enough for the season, some say lanfranco dettori rode the wrong race on him and some might say he wasn't just good enough on the day.

  9. Dettori claimed he was beat at the start, but shortly before the race Chapple-Hyam was bubbling with confidence as the horse was working well at home.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the fact that Authorised was edgy pre-race - as a son of Montjeu you would be more concerned if he WASNN'T on his toes.

Maybe it was the track, maybe it was the ride he was given - being drawn 12 of 12 he was never going to be able to get much cover.  Chapple-Hyam did say that the plan was to drop in 4th or 5th and just stalk, but that never happened.

Whether the owners will consider giving him one last run to retire on a high (perhaps the champion Stakes or Breeders' Cup) or maybe the Sheikh will consider keeping him in training, we'll just have to wait and see.

More news will come out in the next few days, I am sure they will scan every inch of him to check for stress fractures, ulcers, lung infections, etc.  I sincerely doubt he was nobbled - but you never know!

Update, Monday afternoon - My boss has just seen Peter Chapple-Hyam up at the sales in Newmarket and told me that he is quite philasophical (spl) about it now.  "That's racing" he said.  Nice to see that some people are not sore losers.

  10. This was probably the biggest error of judgement in Dettoris career. He should have settled him in at the back and switched him off but instead chose to let the horse pull and tug and see far too much daylight. The trainers reaction spoke volumes.
