Big deal. There are far more serious issues than finding a pot plant in someone's house.They make too big a deal about marijuana in this country. Alcohol, tobacco, and fast-food causes far more deaths than someone smoking up.

Funny how a famous reverend, Jesse Jackson makes a threat about cutting Obama's nuts off, and he gets off scott-free. Someone else has a pot plant and a city gets all excited about this.

Cut the guy a break and impose a minor punishment, if any.

"Manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance", my @ss. Alcohol is more dangerous than that stuff, yet I can legally make beer and wine in my basement. I have yet to hear any news stories about anybody overdosing and dying, or beating his wife from being under the influence of weed. I say that trooper should face the music like anybody else, but to ultimately just get rid of the stupid prohibition.

Same thing as a cop would get for a DUI, temporary suspension, drug/alcohol classes, reinstatement.  A single pot plant is hardly something to get bent about.  This doesn't show that the cop was being dishonest, like theft or dealing, it doesn't show that he was dangerous, like domestic violence or excessive force, and it doesn't show that he has a drug problem, no massive quantity, no medical signs of addiction.  

To say that cops should be held to a higher standard, I would argue he has been.  No private citizen growing a single plant would cause the police to seek a warrant or cause the news to report.
