the government revealed to the public that they had discovered an advanced alien species? they didnt tell us if they were friendly or hostile. They just came over the loud speakers and said it. What would happen? plz be creative but keep your answer serious and true

If they told us then they would give more info than you have. Otherwise,why tell us? Discovered where? on Earth? In space?

There would be turmoil at first but life would go on. Or not.

Id be omg and shake in fear  hoping there friendly never leaving the tv. I would check on the internet to see all the details and news. I would then tell all my friends about it and family. Nuthing much more I could do. If they were not as intelligent I wouldent mind as much knowing it wouldent be much of a problem. Thats what Id do.

Some people would want to see proof, but now in the 20 century with our technology people may want to know more, find out if they are friend or hostile.

Educated People, aware of interstellar distances would show some interest.  But understanding that interstellar communication even if it could be initiated, would take centuries, and deciphering an alien language might actually be impossible, such people would quickly concern themselves with more pressing matters.

Less educated types might get excited, but as weeks, months, and years went by and absolutely nothing happened, they would lose interest.

Religious fundamentalists could be depended on to do something stupid, but in what form that stupidity would manifest itself is unknown.  But soon enough they would lose interest as nothing happened.

Fringe elements could be counted on to form a multitude religions worshiping the aliens about which nothing was known.  Yesterday someone posted that they LOVED ALIENS.  If people love nonexistent aliens, real ones, even ones we really know nothing about, would cause a frenzy of odd behavior.

hmm I would suspect that panic would occur while the alien believers laugh at the skeptics. We would first probably identify there home planet, measure there capacities of this race then try to communicate with them. As soon as the communication were established we would make diplomacy if that failed we would probably either stop communications or start the first inter solar war. We may even see the full world work together for once

some people would use it as an excuse to kill people and say it was the aliens and all h**l would break loose.
