Caffeine just disappeared from existence forever?

So many of us seem to be so addicted to it and rely on it to get through their work day and etc. So I think the economy would crash and that human society would last only about 3 more years.

  1. I have tasted caffeine in so many drinks like coffee and the likes, but I myself never got addicted to it.

Well I think, if that would be the case, the world would be a better place. I just feel sorry for the companies like Starbucks and other softdrink company for they are somehow benifited with it.

  2. We would become a calm and peaceful World. We would all be chillin.

There would be few accidents caused by road rage, fewer stressed out people having heart attacks, we would be sleeping at night, and waking refreshed.

That is until someone discovers ephedra, crystal meth, or other stimulant.

  3. The powers that be would not be long in finding a substitute to replace it and its effects.

  4. "I think the economy would crash and that human society would last only about 3 more years"

maybe except for the mormons.  :)

  5. caffine? everyone would have head aches for a month, then we would be free of it.

  6. We would survive...as long as we have God...we can get through anything.

  7. very grim prediction.

what would happen is we would work 4 hours a day with 3 -20 minute breaks. we would go home and sleep 18 hours. sleeping in might take 3 days.

  8. Well I can...umm...quit if I want too. It's not like I'm addicted or anything you know.....

Please, oh please, don't take away my coffee though!!

  9. Wow. You put that much reliance on caffeine?

While I agree that a lot of people do rely too much on caffeine, I don't think we would completely unravel if it disappeared.

If it was known that it disappeared, if it wasn't just a large number of people deciding to quit drinking it, then I think everyone and every business would adjust accordingly.

Sure, we would have some downfalls, some lack of sleep, more people being late to work and less able to focus but - like any world catastrophe - we would all adjust to it. And like any diet plan - we would learn to adjust to the absence of it in our bodies.

People would learn how to stay awake properly with good nutrition and sleep and maybe not party so much the night before an important meeting.

People wouldn't have a reason to say "I need a coffee break" and would get more work done and stop standing around the kitchen gossiping about the boss's affair with his secretary.

People would not be so wired up for a majority of the day that their brains don't focus and then so wired down at the end of the day that their bodies don't move.

We'd adjust. There would be some form of chaos and mayhem and all of that to begin with but we would eventually adjust and be healthier for it. It may take those three years you mentioned before adjustments were complete though!
