Everyday, I see more crimes toward our Constitution. I see our president support torture and spying on our every conversation. I see Congress let big oil companies get away with gorging us out of our hard earned money. I see our leaders considering to break the second Amendment. I see the average American ignore it or not do anything about it.

Although I'm still a minor, as soon as I turn 18, I will exercise my rights as an American citizen.

As an American citizen, what are you going to do about the injustices our government is starting to put on the Constitution?

  1. My duty as an american is to keep the US on the right path, adhering to the principles laid down by our forefathers and to correct actions that are not in harmony with those goals and ideals

i will vote out those people who feel that waterboarding is the way to go

i will vote out those people who see graft an completely natural

i will vote out those people who put the bottom line over American lives

  2. I myself try to do what I can for this Great Country of ours

I Vote, I'm a Vol. Fireman, I donate Blood, I've helped the VFW, I Organize the the Memorial day parade for my town.

If everyone could do their part we will be great forever.

  3. Work hard to get the border secured and fix the illegal immigration problem. Take care of my own family and not ask the government to bail me out. Pay my taxes and vote in every election. Don't make excuses when I find the going tough and work that much harder to make things better again. Raise my kids to have respect for human life and ensure they turn out to be productive citizens and obey the law.

  4. Waterboarding is the most humane form of torture I've ever heard of.  What's the matter with you people?  Our leaders are breaking the right to bear arms? What?

If you are upset about certain issues, document the hard facts and collect them.  Do research on them and find out who to contact that will make a difference.  The pen is mightier than the sword.

  5. As a middle aged student of history I tell you that you need to study your history a little more. The crimes you describe are mostly anti US propaganda.

We do not torture. Our civil liberties are important and must be defended. Just remember that it is the liberals who are the greatest threat.

  6. I would recommend that you educate yourself on the issues instead of mindlessly believing propaganda.

You should also learn something about economics and remember that if you deny the oil companies profits - they have no inducement to provide you with gasoline.

Next you need to learn about what torture is and how many lives were saved by 'waterboarding.'  (How many people are you willing to sacrifice in order to ban this?)

Finally, you need to learn something about FISA and what the circumstances are that allow any particular person to be monitored under those laws.  Then come back and provide an intelligent explanation of how any reasonable person can disapprove of monitoring under those conditions.

  7. The responsibility as an American citizen could be to add more protections to The Constituition which would state every citizen has the right to protect The Environment and to have an Environment without damage. The other responsibilities would be to bring books on Witch Hunts and Witch Craft Trials to Government Buildings as a contrast to current events to make sure people do not continue in variations on Witch Hunts like the current one with terrorists to see that The Terrorist does not become a variant of a Witch or Warlock. Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. The responsibility of American citizens is to make sure people understand the hunts and that single people can be victims of the mentality of one. Make sure there will not be Witch Hunt ever again in any form like the one at Quantanemo Bay.Abu Graib,The case of Maher Arar.

  8. wish everyone saw  it this way.

  9. Great Libertarian quote. "It is the duty of every patriot to protect his country from it's government."

Another great quote is "Democracy is the best form of government in the world, not because it is more clever or fair, but because people get the government they deserve."

Our duty ito our country is different for every person. For a welfare mother, her duty is to get into a program to get education to get a job, and to raise her children to value education and to contribute. To the Corporate CEO, it is to run his/her buisness in a way that is fair and profitable and benificial to the people of the US. To the almost 18 year old, it's to make the decisions about their future that will make them a contributing member of society. Civic duty is different for each person, it is doing the small thing we can do to make this a better world. Some will volunteer for the enviorment, some will find a cure for cancer, some will simply vote their conscience in the poles.  Some will get their BA and push toward there Ph.d, some will report the news, some will dig deeper ditches.

However, I do know that when don't do these things, that is injustice. We must each strive each day to be the best person we can.  That is our civic duty and when we do these things we become more enfranchised in the political process (and the society it represents) and we demand more from our candidated then simply "the lesser of two evils" and real democracy might just ensue.

  10. Like we did in the 60's, you protest against it and make the issue public. The more exposure the injustice get the better chance of it being resolved.

  11. You can’t do anything but vote for a person you think is going to do the right thing and hope for the best.  So if you want to change something then get a bunch of people together and make a stand, personally, no matter what we are doing this is the best country in the world and I wouldn’t leave it for anything.

  12. to become educated. Not just standing behind some one because they are part of your political party. Self awareness. Watching less Tv and doing more research on the candidates. Finding out what some of these laws that are passed mean and how they Effect you. I totally agree the Constitution is getting torn up so American think they are safe. However they are not.

  13. To work, pay taxes, and help out those less fortunate than me.

To be nice, considerate, and tolerant of other people, even if the other people smell bad, don't work, drive bad, make unwarranted threats toward me or others, and steal things, even junk that is worthless.

To pray every night that people can just be cool for awhile and try to get along and not rob me when I'm getting money from the ATM.

  14. what can you do about it except take it up the asss? do you really think your vote counts? that's all just a show.. get you to go out and vote and then put your ballot in a counter and be shredded..they just count to see how many idiots go out and vote..you can say go talk to your congressmen, but what is he or she really going to do.. i am tired of the politics.. the lies, the thievery the bloodshed.. our government is no better than the dictators they capture..and as for exercising your rights when you get to be an adult? here are a few.. you have the right to pay your taxes, you have a right to pay high gas prices, you have a right to get a job and to earn a living and then be told your company will be closing and moving to Mexico or china.. you have a right to file for unemployment and get 26 weeks.. and when your checks run out you have a right to file for welfare only to be told you made to much money the year before..sorry they can not help you.. you have a right as an American to exercise your right to be crapped on just as the rest of us are ....doesn`t really matter who you vote for they are all liars... the definition of political leaders? liar....they all tell us what we want to hear and when they are elected not by voters but by electoral colleges..so when they are elected well first they have to be prepared to help out all those that paid them off when they were ruining for office.. the rest of the tax paying public will just have to wait..i vote every year.. i voted democrat... as far as i was concerned we were a country without a president.. isn`t it funny that we are a nation of believers when it comes to our plotiticians? no that isn`t a misspelling it is just as i wrote it.. i can not believe that when Bush is finally out of office that we still have to pay his wages.. now that really sucks..but hey that's my RIGHT? as an American citizen... no that's not a right that's a dictatorship.. we must pay our taxes or go to jail.. we must obey or we will go to jail.. we don`t torture? why are so many losing their homes? why are so many going hungry? why are so many being denied health insurance and dying because they can`t afford the high bills..why are so many without a roof over their heads? hmmmm? we don`t torture... i`d think twice about that...

  15. im not an american citizen im british=] hehe

u should try and become president then u can put your country right =]

    x*x

  16. its in the preamble.

  17. Vote! People cannot complain about the Gov't. if they don't vote. (Please do vote when you are 18)

  18. You're talking about the average apathy levels of the happy go lucky American who does not vote regularly, does not keep up with current events (and celebrity news does not count in itself), throws thrash out their windows of their car, in fact throws trash everywhere, doesn't really recycle that much, doesn't worry about their neighbor's well-being because they figure they are all serial killers and child predictors, and above all, do not even know how the government is arranged, and how to ask for help and give support when needed.
