  1. Any risk that's political. It can be country specific or firm specific and many other things like personal or domestic varying from case to case.

    Examples are but are not limited to a politician backing down from a promise he made to voters because he know thinks this option is better, he takes a political risk of losing voters and being perceived as a liar; a country can decide many things that it sees as politically nessecary but could upset other nations, possibly in the worst scenario even resulting in war; a company can take a political risk by supporting controversial issues or not supporting things which  society sees as very positive which could result in a boycott and in extreme cases even legal repurcussions.
