What do you use WitchHazel for?

What have you used it for in the past or currently? I know it is used in items like Tucks pads, but what else?

  1. It's useful for just about any skin ailment - old timey, 'natural' product - the scent is not very nice, but that dissipates quickly.

  3. I don't use it for any medicinal purposes--I just like to keep a bottle around because I LOVE the way it smells.  I guess I use it to snort up with.

  5. On a hot day i'll put some on a wash cloth to wipe my face off. It has a real cooling affect.

  6. It was prescribed by the doctor for me to sooth stitches after child  birth in the 50's and 60's.

    It worked. It was very soothing indeed.

  7. bruises, insect bites and to get rid of the bags under your eyes and "refesh" and brighten your skin, couldnt live without it. When it comes to bruises its a miracle, stops hurting almost instantly

  8. It is used for astringent to wash your face,take off make up,insect bites,its good for oily skin.Doesn't dry out your skin like alcohol does.

  16. I DON'T know and my mother ALWAYS had some in the medicine cabinet and I never did ask her what it was for.  It smelled funny.  There was other stuff like that in there that were mystery items also.

  20. I have used witch hazel to remove paint from my skin.  

  21. I have used it as an aftershave. It ranks up there with Bay Rum as far as setting your face on fire. I have used both but am sure nowadays, Bay Rum isn't used by alcoholics like it used to be.

    Least that what my mom told me. But I have used both as aftershave. once even after I spent 45 minutes with a straight razor giving myself and "old fashioned" shave. Was a 5 alarm fire on my face. Rubbing alcohol was mild by comparison.
