Hi! Just wanted to see if anyone had any tips for extremely oily hair... I know people say don't wash your hair every day, but I have to. Even right after I have a shower, my hair is oily. I've tried all types of shampoo and treatments, nothing seems to work. The only time my hair seems to work well with treatments is if I go into a salon and have them work on it there, but when I buy the products they used, and use them how they show me, within a few days, the oily hair is back. I've tried Tea Tree products, powders, etc.

Brands I have tried and have not worked for me are:

Herbal Essence Biolage

Pantene Matrix

Head and Shoulders Dove

Sunsilk VO5

Schwarzkopf

I'm tired of spending all this money on shampoo that doesn't help for more than 2-3 days, or having to use powder in my hair to soak up the oil!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

  1. I can understand your situation completely honey because i have oily skin and hair too,i  have to wash my hair regulatory as there is no alternative but i use 'Sunny Arnica shampoo" and after that doesn't required anything.

  2. Well I would only use am oily hair shampoo once a week at most because they are all designed to be very stripping and will give you very dry looking hair!  And I would go with a Biolage brand, or anything of high quality.  I have oily hair and i know that it is a fine balance, but it is coloured, since there are no good shampoos designed for that in the market (believe me, I have tried and tried), My only options are Joico for colored and, dove for coloured, but know they changed the formula to the one with the pink lid, which is overly moisturizing, and maked my hair look flat, so I only use color endurance Joico.  The trick is to just put the conditioner in the ends, then run your greasy hands through the lengths, and don't go directly into the roots.  If your hair is not colored then use a regular shampoo for the other 6 days, and a light conditioner, and if it is straight, DONT put any product in your hair when it is wet, before you style it, then your hair will go flat and oily, you can apply styling products when hair is DRY formulated for that, I found a gel and dove taming cream for that hope I helped

  3. Oh..whoops, Didn't realize you already tried that...Try Tea Tree shampoo by Paul Mitchell..It's really good for oily hair.I..But all else I can tell you, is try to wash your hair less and see if it's because of excess washing..If that dosen't work..Go into the salons, and ask...oe maybe get a appointment with a Trichologist(Which is basically a 'hair doctor')

  4. It's possible that your scapl is over-producing oil because you wash it so often. It's sort of a defense thing. I know this is going to sound hard to do, but apparantly the best thing to do is to not wash it for two or three days, and then start washing it every second day with a good anti-oil shampoo (sorry, I'm not sure which one's are the best ones).

    Logically, it makes sense.

  5. just shampoo ur hair daily n u wil be ok... n don apply oil on ur hair...
