What do you use to find new restaurants that you want to go to?

Hi, I'm doing research for a project on nightlife and need 2 know what things you use to find new restaurants: which newspapers, magazines, websites, tvshows, etc.. Thanks!

I always watch "Restaurant Makeover" on HGTV and if the restaurant looks good, I go there. I also read the reviews in my university newspaper.

I always use menu palace, I always use the internet to check out menus for restaurants and definitely check the reviews. In the case that I am planning on going to another city (trip or visiting family/friends), I go their city's site (google the city) and they have nice links to a helpful site

I might read reviews in the paper, but places that my friends have been and liked I usually make a point to check out. I also will read the menus outside of resturaunts and if im walking by a place and i see something that looks amazing passing me by in the window I will probably check it out sometime!!

Word of mouth is a big one.  Also whenever new restaurants open up in my area, I usually try them - or at least look at their menu.

Driving around, if I see a restaurant that looks clean, nice but not super fancy, and with a name that sounds intriguing (usually if i think I will like their food) I will make a mental note to try that restaurant.

In regards to your project I would go to the towns website. They usually offer a list of all the local businesses including restaurants.  Also looking up "Restaurants" in the yellow pages is a good one.

I use zagats and i typically ask friends for recommendations.
