  1. I personally have a raincoat and matching little booties that prevent frostbite.

  2. I don't live in a cold climate but I do know they make dog booties to protect the pads during severe weather.

    PETSMART sells them

but i'm sure any pet supply store would have some form of them.

    http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.js...

    here's an example

in case the link doesn't work go to PETSMART.com and enter Muttluks Dog Booties

    hope this helps

  3. In the winter, he's only out long enough to go potty, and every once in a while we'll let him romp in the snow but not for long.  Since he's not out for long, I don't really have the need to put anything on his paws.

  4. you can buy little shoes called pawtectors. check out your local pet store... i know places like petco and petsmart have them.

  5. lol... I live in the desert. It's still warm in winter. No snow, plus they have a doggie door and a big fenced yard so if they're uncomfortable, they come inside.

  6. Musher's Secret.

Wipe the paws when they come back in anyways though, since it is a wax, it will leave little paw prints everywhere.

  7. I don't do anything to protect his paws. I try to make sure that he don't step on salt and he's not out there that long anyway and if he's out there it doesn't really hurt him. The only thing that will hurt him is the salt that you put on the ground apart from that if you don't leave him out a long period of time is fine. If you are still worried you can buy boots for him or consult your vet to see what they suggest.

  8. musher's secret paw wax is a godsend

if theres  a LOT of sharp, icy crust a lap of wet wrap around each paw.

  9. Dogs are not usually out long enough for this to be a problem. Obviously in the Winter they still want long walks. When you get home they need to be dried off and if it is very cold and in spite of having central heating, I throw a blanket over my dog. The only problem with their feet is when the roads are salted, this should be rinsed off and their feet should be dried. If you think that your needs something extra, try "Paw Wax".  I do "heel work to music" with my dog and "paw wax" stops her slipping on the floor. This can be used for protection in the Winter, apply to dry feet if you think that this is necessary.

  10. I don't leave my dogs outside very long in winter. I let them go out and do their business and play of course and make sure to wipe off their feet with a cloth when they come inside..Pharaoh likes to roll in the snow so I have to wipe him off completely.

So unless you make your dog live outside he/she should be fine.

You could buy booties too, my dogs don't find them comfortable though.
