What do you use to split the tail of a lobster?

  1. It should arrive at the table already split, but if not, just send it back for the chef to do it. It's too messy to do it at the table. At home, I just use shears.


  2. kitchen shears.....or sturdy scissors.

  3. I use my hands. You simply crack it back and then grab each of the sides and it pops right out on the thinner side.

  5. At some restaurants I use a jackhammer, tough old lobster but the price is right.

  6. A gasoline-powered lobster saw.

    Messy, but gets the job done.  And, best of all, they are lubricated by butter.

    But seriously, you can just pick it up and break it gently.  If it's cooked properly, it will just fall apart.
