  1. In a general Sociology course (Intro, I assume) you will study basic human social behaviors and human associations resulting from social interaction.

Intro or a basic SOCI course generally covers the following areas:

The founders of SOCI (Comte, Spencer, Marx, Durkheim, Weber, Simmel)

Basic SOCI approaches (micro, macro, ethno., exchange, etc.)

A brief intro to research methodology

    Culture (components, diversity, etc)

    Social structure (institutions, stratification, etc.)

    Socialization

    Deviance (basic)

Demography will also find its way into many chapters through birth rates, etc.)

Paradigms (conflict, structural functionalist, symbolic interactionalist)

In short, you will just get a brief overview of the topics you will explore individually as you begin to take upper division SOCI courses such as Deviance, Social Problems, Marital and Sexual, Urban, Theory, Research Methods, Statistics, and so on.

    Good Luck!

  2. It depends.

Usually ~ basically, the differing forms of societies and their subcultures ~ the positives and the negatives of them each ~ how and whether they interact, and how well or badly and the effects of it on the members of it and the society as a whole.

    (in a nutshell)

    Sash.

  3. it depends on which level GCSE A Level or degree..

and which board you will do as well.

Sociology is a great subject at GCSE you will study poverty, class, education, religion etc.

at a level you will do the family eg nuclear cohabitation etc, methods, education for the 1st year in yr2 you will do crime and deviance, religion and coursework.

    hope that helps
