When he gets back do you want to see him back as a starter or a closer..

I'm praying that he remains a starter. He is a really good guy to start

  1. Since Carpenter got hurt again they will put him as a starter, for sure.   I thinnk Perez should be our closer.  He is used to being one and hasnt messed up.  So why not give him the ball and a crack at it.

  2. With the amount of time he has been off he probably won't have enough time to get in the kind of shape he would need to help the team as a starter.  Since the Cardinals need a dependable closer right now I believe the team is planning to fill that void with Wainwright who could step up quickly by keeping  his pitch count under 30 pitches and possibly not pitching back-to-back games.

  3. Wainwright is so good at both but i agree with you he should definitely be a starter

a guy like him can give u 7 good innings to win a game and with chris perez settling in like he has the cards should just leave him as a starter

  4. Starter. If you have a choice to have a good pitcher, always make him a starter. Think of  math.

Closer, 6 games a week, potentially 3 games saving opportunity, for really good closer to pitch 4 outs per game. That is 4 innings.

Starter, 2 start a week. Each start 6 innings. (should be 7 but sometimes only 1 start for 1 week). That is 12 innings.

A starter should be worth 3 times than a closer to a team.

Plus, a win is a starter’s responsibility. A save is essential to a win too but it is not a win.

Finally, closer should be a specialist, Adam has so many arsenals that he is more suitable to start.

  5. I was thinking he would come back as a closer for a while, but I guess they (finally) have their closing role figured out for now (one that doesn't include Isringhausen). So I guess he is coming back as a starter.

  6. He's good at both roles, but I wanna see more Chris Perez in 9th inning

  7. I'm mixed. I'd like to see him start, but seeing him close would help the Cards' bullpen problems.
