  1. local shows and play days are the best kinds of shows there are :)

im definitely a fan of dress clothes for show (i love the sparkly things) :) but my favorite thing to ride in is what im comfortable in

Well what kind of show is it? western pleasure, english, rodeo?

Well JEANS is a must haha ! and dont go too all out with the dress shirt its not World Pain Show 08 here.  But definitely pick something you're comfortable in and something you like.  For shows its always fun to match you and your horse.  Think about your horses tack and especially pad you can match the pad or reins or even bell boots or jumpers/ splintboots.  You don't have to go too crazy but its also always fun to pick your favorite color.

The key thing is to have fun cause its the fun local show not a political high money show.

Best of luck to you in your show too :)

  2. English:

Plain polo or turtle neck if its cold

    Tan/Rust/Brown Breeches (I prefer tan)

Belt (I prefer black or brown but glittery and brightly colored ones are popular)

Paddock boots and chaps are probably fine as long as they look good

Helmet (preferably black if it is plastic/colored then velvet covers are cheap)

    Gloves (optional)

Whatever you (and your horse) wear make sure it shows that you care about your apperance and are respectful to the judge and other competitors. I did a 4-H show once and was put off by what other competitions were wearing. I wore the above and was competing against people wearing jeans and hoodies on dirty horses. It was almost insulting. The judge also came in nice clothes (black pants and a collared shirt) and my friend and I could tell she was not fond of the "relaxed look". It showed in her placings. At local fairs and things like that clothes and tack just has it fit, be clean and workman like.

  3. At any local fair show you will see people wearing many different things. Some people might wear the show shirt, breeches, jacket, and leathers or tall boots. But honestly you can wear jeans and a polo. If you have a barn polo that would work to. You do have to wear boots and a helment. The show you are going to probably has a website you can try to google it and it will tell you if they have any standereds you have to follow.

    Good Luck:)

and remeber while you are showing to smile, watch your heels and hands, and have FUN!

  4. western:western shirts w/ collar, if it has buttons button all of them, long pants that hand just below your boots, and a western hat or helmet w/ cover

english:shirt w/ jacket, if it has bottons button them, if it has a collar(optional) wear a tie or bow, long pants that hang below english(long or short) boots

    (gloves are optional)

  5. Well what r u showing in?? for classes such as gaming (barrel, poles,) it depends on the judge. sometimes they make you have long sleeves and a collar on your shirt but sometimes you can have any shirt as long as it has a collar or sometimes they don't care. But for western pleasure most people wear a long sleeve shirt with a collar that stands out. Also it looks better if you're color coordinated with your horse's tack. People wear chaps alot too. You would also need a Cowboy hat or helmet most likely. My advice would be to bring many outfit options and find out when you get there. Good Luck :)

  6. careful, if you are showing at a county fair most of them require you to wear "show whites" white jeans, white shirt. it would be smart if you looked on the paperwork you have to fill out, because it will usually tell you. if you are not entering until the day of the show, i suggest talking to people who have shown at the fair in the past.
