  1. Most ballet classes have a specific uniform such as a black leotard andpink tights.  You should call the school where you'll attend class and ask what you should wear.  If they have no preference (this would be rare), I'd stick with a basic black leo and pink tights.  If it's a new teen class, they may wear leggings and a tank top.  I hope you enjoy ballet!

  2. Your studio should give you a paper with what the dress code is.  At any reputable dance studio, they'll want you in a black or solid color leotard, pink dance tights, with ballet shoes.  No UNDERWEAR.  They show through and its not pretty.  Thongs are also not a viable option, seeing as they'd be really uncomfortable and will still show through.  Keep your hair in a tight bun, with no bangs, and if you need to, wear a sports bra.

This has always been the dress code for my ballet classes and I've been to several studios.  Sometimes they allow cover-ups for barre exercises, such as skirts, leg warmers, and sweaters.

Oh yeah, and discountdance.com is pretty good, but you need to be fitted for shoes in the store for your first time.

  3. Most schools have a dress code.

The most typical code is pink ballet shoes, pink tights, black leotard, and hair in high bun. I would suggest it unless you have a way to find out any rules your dance school may have. Some schools will let you wear shorts or a ballet skirt over your leotard, but they may ask you to take it off if it violates your school's particular dress code.

There are tights you can get called transition tights. These have holes in the bottom so you can take your feet in and out of them. It's really handy and keeps your feet from getting all scrunched up inside your tights before and after class until you get somewhere where you can change. : )

If you haven't already bought shoes, I would recommend split sole canvas shoes. Canvas shoes are more easily washable (you can pop 'em in the washing machine or dryer) and they allow you less traction (for easier turns and other things where your foot may be dragged on the floor), the split sole is more flattering on your foot and it really allows you to see your point better. Leather shoes are also available and some people prefer them to canvas. They tend to last a little longer, but are a bit more expensive, they shrink to fit your foot as canvas shoes come to fit tight (not uncomfortably tight, just not loose) and don't give so much.

Have fun in your ballet class (I love it!)!!

  4. pink ballet tights a black leotard pink ballet shoes not pointe shoes hair in a bun and you are not ready for ballet class if you don't have the most important thing a............SMILE =^..^=

  5. Most studios have a dress code of tights, and a leotard(this is often colour-coded according to level/class. ie: Ballet 1 wears blue, ballet 2 wears red, etc.). Some will allow skirts/shorts, some will not. Most to all will require your hair to be pulled back out of your face, most likely into a bun unless your hair is extremely short. Then, of course, shoes appropriate for your class(ballet slippers, jazz shoes, etc.). Usually there's a "no jewelery" rule as well, as necklaces, bracelets, and dangly earrings often get in your way.

Personally, I take an adult ballet class, adult jazz class, and pointe. Since I'm in the adult level, my teacher is pretty flexible about what we wear. I usually wear white or nude colour tights(convertible so I can wear flip flops to the studio, then roll them down when it's time for class), a leo(usually black or hunter green, just my favourite colours), and a black skirt for ballet/pointe, and I slip on black jazz pants for jazz. Then, of course, light pink ballet slippers, light pink pointe shoes, and black jazz shoes.

  6. Some schools have a certain dress code, but most go with the traditional black leotard and pink tights.  With your tights, you usually want to go to a dance place to get them, because they make them there to last longer.  They're a little more expensive ($10-$15) than normal tights, but its worth it.

You might need to contact your school about the leotard because there are many varieties, but they might have one black one that everyone uses.  At my school, we get ours at a dance place and they have really cute ones there, so you can look stylin' while you dance! lol.

Your hair should ALWAYS be in a bun.  It's simple but very professional and keeps the hair out of your face.  Use a hair net over your bun if you can't get your hair to stay in it.

And make sure to get your ballet shoes before hand.  These should also be purchased in a dance store, because they get the best kind of shoes for you to dance in.  The prices range from $15-$30.  Some places will also fit the shoe to your foot to make sure it's perfect to dance in.  Don't get the cheap ballet slippers at Wal-Mart or Payless because they aren't that great.

Just remember to smile and relax so you can have a fun time!  Ballet is hard, but its lots of fun and definitely worth it!!!!

  7. pink tights (capezio convertable) and a tank top strap black leotard, hair up in a bun, bangs pinned back, pink ballet shoes (bloch) and definitely no jewlery.... sumtimes i wear ballet booty shorts lol

as for brands you can choose whatever brand u want

  8. check with your studio to see fi they have a dress code. Usually, a black leo and pink tights si standard.

  9. I've been dancing for 12 years. Here is what I typically wear to class: ballet leotard (cami...although check with the instructor to see what type of leotard), pink tights, leather ballet slippers (they last longer than canvas), chifon skirt. Then I also typically wear a tanktop or tshirt over the leotard...but not all dance studios allow that. And don't forget to put your hair up in a bun. Depending on how strict your studio is...I would go with a really neat one for the first couple of classes so you can see how other dancers do it. no straggling hair.

  10. well i know where i take we have to wear a dark colored leotard, pink tights, and pink shoes, we also have to wear our hear i a tight bun people also wear skirts, and in the winter leg warmers, swaeter pants and shorts, and sweaters but most studios just have to wear a leotard and pink tights

  11. check with the teacher but tights and a leotard should be just fine

  12. Most ballet studios have a dress code.  Some instructors are strict about your dress while others are more flexible.  But a traditional ballet practice uniform is:

    Pink Tights

    Black Leotard

Skirt or Shorts (some instructors prefer none however)

Hair should be pulled back and out of your face.  A ballet bun is better than a pony tail.  Because when you do turns, your hair won't whip you in the face.  Painful...

Well... I hope that this helped you.  Good Lcuk with the Ballet.

  13. check with your instructor.

my studio has us wear pink or black tights with a black leotard and black spandex booty shorts and hair in a bun.

but if there is no dress code, i would still get the booty shorts and just a plain colored tank top. but ask your teacher.

  14. check with the dance instructor. Most classes require leo's and tights, and shoes for what ever type of dance your taking. Some school have different colored leos for different skill levels and age groups. My school has a pretty lax dresscode. Leotards or camisoles, tights are optional and dance skirts or sofee shorts if you over 12!
