I'm going to my boyfriends graduation from AIT. Its a graduation, so I'm thinking I need to dress nice but I don't want to be overdressed. So what is the norm?

  1. Dress as you would for a job interview with a good company.  Nothing too casual or trashy.  You didn't say which post but it is summer so its bound to be warm to hot unless it rains and they move it into one of the theaters.  So dress comfortably.  It has been my experience that soldiers graduating want to show their girl friends off so on the conservative side but exciting seems to fit the bill.  Good luck to you and thank your BF for me for his service

  2. They're usually held outside - so dress for the conditions - a nice summer dress would be appropriate - but people come in all types of clothing.

  3. People wear all kindsa stuff. Don't be trampy. You're meeting his command. You get into that habit and you'll get quite a rep.

It's in the 90's at FT Jackson right now.

  4. Nice jeans & a nice top.  You will be seated outdoors, so dress appropriately for the weather.

  5. i would say business casual. no to dressy you don't want to look like your going to the prom but something nice like to a job interview. some AIT graduations are inside. so dress for the weather. defiantly dress to impress your boyfriend hasn't seen you in a while so make it special!  plus you will be getting introduces to all his classmates and higher enlisted. i would definatly not recoment tanktops, flip flops, or anything like that. there's nothing better then looking at your soldier in his dress greens.

  6. Just about anything goes...but keep in mind there are a few things I would avoid.

    Plain white tees,

    flip-flops

    strapless/sleeveless shirts

    gym clothes

    too short dress/skirt

You can dress casual, but step it up a notch. Wear something comfortable. Those ceremonies can get long and hot. How about a nice sundress (with sleeves) or a nice pair of slacks and a blouse.

I would wear low heel shoes. You will probably be outside and heels can be uncomfortable out there.

  7. Wear a nice dress, like you were going to any graduation ceremony. This is an Honorable event, so dress conservative, show little cleavage, and knee high skirt. Have fun and be proud of your soldier.
