What do you wear to a Phillipino friend's 18 debut party?

I got a dress for this event but it's more casul and cute than formal. I don't know if it will do. It's a colourful, patterned, purple fall dress and I will spruce it up with a white sash bow tied around the waist and black matte round toed pumps. It has a sqaure swooping neckling and is mini. Is this ok to wear to a debut?

My Fiancee is Phillippino and whenever they have events they invite many of their family members - young and old. So I personally wouldn't wear anything too revealing.

As it is your friends debut, you probably don't want to stand out too much. Purple is a bright colour. Maybe ask what she is wearing so you don't clash and pick something a bit more formal and longer in style.
