Not my thing, not that they'd work on my bike anyway. Mostly they seem like they'd be uncomfortable and I'm really not a fan of the look.

On my list of stupid bike modifications, though, they don't rank that high. And really, why should I care? I'm not going to bash some guy for wanting high bars.

i think he is probably riding quite comfortably.  all you guys that bash apes and say they're retarded and hard to ride with and uncomfortable, you've never ridden with them.  they just give a nice, laid back ride.  they look ok, but if i got them it'd be for comfort.  i love riding with apes.  of course, they can get ridiculous, but about shoulder height is perfect.  usually 16" bars.

Why would he be a JA? Different strokes for different folks. Not everyone thinks candy apple red is the koolest color ever either. I all ways thought they looked uncomfortable but the guys I talk to that have them say they're great. Not everyone wants to live in your perfect world, some of us like to do things a little different. Maybe the one judging on how others look is the "real" JA???

that and the japp's can't drag enough money back out of country by offering any decent add ons because all their c**p is just that.... c**p, so they don't bother offering extra c**p.  plastic chrome is a joke and the japps just don't get that

Well, I personally feel Apes really detract from the handling aspect of the motorcycle.

BUT, my brother has Apes on his Heritage Softail, and he gets tons of comments, people LOVE them.  All kinds of folks talk to him about them, and he really likes them more than anything else on his bike.  His bike is a real passion for him, so, when I see a guy riding down the street with apes, I always think,

That's why there are so many options, each of us is different, and there really is no wrong way.  

Shiny side up, sticky side down, just the way we like it!

If it is a nice chopper I think it probably looks good parked but really looks stupid when someone is trying to drive it.  Yes, I said drive on purpose.

If it is just some sheep with a harley who added them along with $5K other worth of bolt on doo-dads to make his black harley different from all the other black harleys with $5k worth of bolt on doo dads, it think, there is an idiot among idiots.  Stupid and rich.

And then there are the dirtbags on rat bikes and I think, there is a dirtbag on a rat bike.  Stupid and poor.

But that is just the opinion of an opinionated person.  I see motorcycling as a sport.  And the bike is sporting equipment.  Anything a person does to make his bike perform better is good.  For instance adding luggage can be good if the purpose of the bike is touring.  Anything a person does that is just for looks or degrades performance for a look is stupid and g*y.  But except for loud pipes I certianly don't want to change what other people want to do with their bikes.
