  1. I don't know how 'young' you mean when you say 'young' but the Queen has always been around as our Monarch since well before my birth.

I respect the fact that she is an old lady now, well beyond normal retirement age and yet she still works hard, which I think many people overlook in their haste to make caustic remarks.

I think her time as Monarch has been a time of great change, the Royals are no longer automatically given respect as was once the case.  She is the first Monarch expected to pay taxes, she has seen three of her childrens marriages end publicly in divorce, and she has had to learn to adapt to more and more new technology, computers, internet, mobile phones, faxes etc, which she has done admirably considering her age.

I'm not a 'Royalist' but I do wonder what people would replace them with as they clamour for their abolishment, I certainly would feel quite sick at the idea of King Tony Blair presiding over us all, so as far as I see it, the Royals have been the lesser of two evils.

I feel Queen Elizabeth has been a fine ambassador for the UK, and that sadly, she will probably be the last reigning Monarch that commanded respect from the Public.  The younger generation now see the Royals as wealthy landowners, 'scrounger's etc, not altogether fair where prince Charles is concerned, but certainly the younger Royals have gone some way to tarnishing their image and I doubt it can ever be repaired

  2. I don't care what she does in England but she is also Queen of Australia- she is of no benefit to us and I think we ought to ditch her.

I think she does a good job fulfilling her role as queen but it is an antiquated idea. In the past people saw royalty as something special and faultless, but since the fiasco of Charlie and Di and their kids running round acting  just like normal teenagers (which of course they are) and the media exposing every sordid second of their lives I think it might be time to retire the royalty.

  3. what is her purpose again?

  4. Yes I think the Queen is an important part in keeping this country together - I don't care what she does in Australia nor if she's liked there or not - but without her this country would have been under the Bush administration long time ago.

I don't think that Charles nor his children should take the throne unless they get some proper lessons from the Royals in Europe.

  5. i really dont know to be honest but i know she must be there for something and there rich,

  6. As an American, I view her more as a figurehead than as much an influence on politics. As far as "liking" her, she doesn't have much of a presence here. I can say that I don't think anyone really likes Charles though.

  7. honestly i dont think anyone gives a d**n im 23 and i could care less about her she hasnt done anything for me or our country c'mon shes from england!

  8. Do young people think about Queen Elizabeth II? This is an assumption on your part. Do young people think? Assuming is getting to be a habit!

I'm 48 years old, and I still haven't found out whether Elizabeth has been a good Queen or a bad one. However, I have observed that Jews have been replacing Englishmen in the British government on her watch, and I understand that the procedure involves a collaboration between Her Majesty and the Prime Minister. So perhaps there is a good reason for why Elizabeth's royal doings aren't widely known.

  9. I may be an American but I have always had the utmost respect for Her Majesty, she has dedicated her life as a life of service more than what most people can say.  When we get home from work it is our time, but when the Queen comes home she can't stop being the Queen at any giving point, she still has papers to go through and phone calls to make and at times of personal tragedy she thinks more about her people and her family than about herself. When something goes wrong in our lives we can call out of work, she cannot, that is a price she pays for something she was born into. She may not have done anything for me personally but the examples of a strong woman who cares about others more than herself is something all women should inspire to.
