Question:

What doctor should I go to?

I get very anxious when I talk in front of people and just before taking a test. My instructor said that one of her friends takes a beta-blocker medicine just before speaking to calm her nerves. Can I go to my family doctor about this? Do you have any tips of what I should try before making an appointment with my doctor?

  1. Psychologist...

  2. Normally doctors are reluctant to prescribe medication in these situations, save for the most extreme circumstances. Speak to your general practitioner, and if they're particularly sympathetic, they may help. Also, the best preparation for talking in front of people is to know your subject, and reherse thoroughly. Practice truly does make perfect. As for tests, all you can do is revise thoroughly, and confidence will come from the results you get.
