  1. if you go through a rental agency,

    as a minimum:

you will need proof of ID - passport or driving licence

proof of address - utility bill, bank statement

cash available for deposit - anywhere from one to two months

    cash for first months rent

a credit check will be run on you and depending on its results and whether the property you are looking at is available,

it is possible to move in within a couple of weeks.

    hope this helps,

  2. Do you mean to rent a house out or to be able to rent one.  Normally letting agents want proof of id, and proof of solvency (i.e. having had a job for at least two years).  If you don't have that, they normally like someone to act as your guarantor.  For students, it's often their parents.  They also tend to want references from your place of work or your tutors.

  3. It depends on who you rent the house from , usually they only want to know that you can afford to pay the rent on time ( and initial  bond which is often one months rent) .

Usually if you are working full time then your employers reference is sufficient - or cash in bank !
