After closing the deal on purchasing new home, what documents should I have in original/certified/or only photocopies?

Currently I have only photocopies of everything, and the signatures were not even completed.

Should I be worry and start collecting all certified copies of Owner policy, Deeds, affidavits, house title etc?

Please help list documents that I MUST have in original/certified copy that will be needed in the future.

Thank you in advance.

  1. After closing you should have photocopies of everything you have signed, which does not mean copies of everything after they have been signed. Signed copies you would need to specifically request. After closing and recording of legal documents, only the Deed will be sent to you from the recorders office. Owners Title Policy will be sent from the title company after recording but not at the same time as the Deed (they will not arrive  nor be sent at the same time). The Mortgage/Deed of Trust will be sent to your Lender, you will not get a copy of this document however you should have received a photocopy of the unsigned Mortgage with & when you signed all your loan documents. I hope this helps :)
