  1. i dont care what people say. wikipedia is awesome

  2. Good question... hahaha.

From what I know, mechanical engineers determine a variety of requirements for mechanical systems.  In their basic form, they decide how a mechanical system will work.  For example, let's say you own a hotel on the Las Vegas strip and you want to install a fountain out front.  You would hire a design engineering firm to perform the design of the system and figure out who should purchase and install it.  The design firm might have a structural engineer to design the concrete basin, and a mechanical engineer to determine how much water is required based on the displacement requirements.  And based on the displacement, how powerful do the motors need to be to pump this water through (would work with electrical engineers for this as well).  They would also need to determine flow rates and pipe size requirements.  They will also factor in environmental conditions to determine what the material of the pipes and pump should be made of.  Most importantly, they ensure that everything they use in the design is up to standard specifications, and follow all applicable codes.

A mechanical engineer would have knowledge of static, mechanic, and dynamic motion, physics, fluid mechanics, some chemistry, material science, electricity and power, industrial equipment, and a slew of other trades.  There are a number of engineering disciplines out there, and my advice if you are interested in engineering, is to research quite a few of them to be sure it's what you really want to do.  I went into college wanting to be an engineer, but didn't know what kind.  I took a few classes that didn't count towards my degree before I figured it out.  I actually took a few mechanical engineering courses and found out it wasn't for me (also found out civil engineering wasn't for me, and finally settled on industrial engineering - that fit in pretty good).

Technical writing is something I am especially proficient at (regardless any typos or grammatical errors in this answer, when it's a professional or academic requirement, it's done right), so if there is a specific question feel free to message me.  Some general guidelines are to have several people proofread your drafts, avoid first person narrative, use aggressive sentence structure (compared to passive - keep the noun and the verb in the front, not in the back), keep your executive summary clean and to the point, and most importantly know your audience.  I could give you examples of good technical writing if you want it, but again, any specific question you have I'll be able to answer.

  3. i strongly suppose you to be materail engineer, as my major in university, sorry now i am a businessman, but regret to be so.

trust me, you will get great fun in this job.
