What does, "On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax," mean?

  1. Sounds like Shakespeare or someone from that era but... my opinion is it means it is a weak lifestyle (frail wings) (the way you get through life) to operate in vanity and falseness..  

    In other words - pride, vanity, self-centeredness,

    Wax is unreal... Vanity is pride

    Frail is weak and wings is how you travel...

  2. It probably refers to the myth of Daedalus and Icarus.  

    Daedalus constructed wings of feathers and wax, which allowed him and his son to fly.  Icarus didn't listen to his father's warnings about flying too high (vanity, I guess), and he got too close to the sun and the wax melted.
