  1. Well Brian it gets bloody complicated at times because of the difference in ratings from state to state, Metro to provincial, 3yr olds to open class etc.etc. this page may give more of an appreciation.

  2. Well after every race a horse gets given a rating and then depending on its rating depends on what races it can run in and what weight it will get. A 0 - 71 rating handicap means that no horse with a rating higher than 71 can enter the race, etc. Its to give lesser horses a chance of winning something.
