What does 10-4 mean?

Back when radio communications were in their infancy, people tried to abbreviate their conversations in order to keep the airwaves clear.  There are a list of "10" responses; but 10-4 stands for "message received", and is still in frequent use with CBs.

Its used by police as way to say 'received and understood' . Also used to excess during the heady days of CB Radio.

My dad says it a lot too!

It means like "over and out" or "i got it", etc.

Your dad must be like a pilot, air traffic controller, policeman, or a transportation worker, right?
