What does 11-10-09 stand for?

I was walking around the south of market area of san francisco, and I saw a small sticker saying "11-10-09 rapture".

Does anyone know what this means? I didn't think the mayan end of the world was until 2012. It just seemed really eerie.

It's probably just someone's random calculations that they put up to scare people into repenting their sins before November '09. Do you really believe random signs put up by strangers? What if I wrote "08-19-08 rapture." Would that freak you out?
