Hello. I am currently doing an experiment in which my colleagues and I are testing the effects of nanoparticle solutions of ROS 17/2.8 Osteosarcoma (Cancer) cells. I would like to know if anyone knows what the 17/2.8 stands for. Thank you.

  1. I'm not sure.  However, they are a clonally derived rat osteosarcoma cell line (Gideon Rodan, sometime around 1980).  Therefore, the "17/2.8" may refer to the clone; in other words, it might not mean anything, just the arbitrary number given to that colony of cells for that particular experiment.
