Question:

What does 240 volts feel like?

i just touch a light switch in my bathroom and got a bad shock, havent got a mulitimeter to check it either tryin to find out how bad the fault is

  1. First, it feels like "ouch" or "Mother F*****".

    It's not the volts that kill you, it's the AMPs.

    You cant really check it, but find out what current runs through the circuit. (Most lights circuits are 8 or 10 amps, while power points are 16 or 20 amps.)

    I would say don't touch anything in that bathroom, faulty circuit or water damage.

    Call an electrician.

    Or, turn off the mains power "the meter box" and take off the light switch. Just pull it off the wall and inspect it. If it's a switch fault, replace it.

    if it's water damage, you could have a leak, and need plumbers AND electricians.

  3. I'v had a few switches like that. Back at school there was a kid who touched a wire(s) and it burned 3 of his fingers clean off. Probably worth looking at fixing ya switch.
