  1. 14 is the wheel size in inches

60 is the profile of the tyre, the hight from rim to tread

    205 is the trres width....

  2. A few got close, nobody got it quite right.  First, you need to start by looking at the complete size description because all of it is important.

    P205/60R14 88H

The P means the tire is built to conform to Passenger Metric sizing and load and inflation table standards

The 205 is the section width of the tire in millimeters.  This is measured at the widest point of the tire - about hafl way down the sidewall - not at the tread.

The 60 is the section height or aspect ratio which measures how tall the tire is from the bead to the top of the tread measured as a percentage of the section width - 60% of 205mm.

R means the tire is of radial construction

14 is the mounting rim diameter in inches.  Yes I know, they mix metric and English measurements

88H is the service description.  The 88 is the load index and tells how much weight the tire can support at specific inflation pressures.  The H is the speed rating which indicates the sustained speed the tire can handle under specific test conditions.  In this case 130mph.

  3. The technical answer

205 denotes section width of the tyre at its widest point (not the tread width)

60 denotes the aspect ratio of the tyre(60% of the section width equates to the height of the side wall)

    R is for radial

    14is the wheel diameter

H is the max speed rating for that tyre(130mph)

  4. 205 is the width of the tyre from edge to edge.

60 is the profile of the tyre. thin/thick e.t.c.

14 is the wheel size in inches.

H is the speed rating of the tyre. Which is the maximum speed of the tyre. H is 130 MPH/ 210 KPH.

  5. All that info and more can be found here;

  6. 205 is the withe of the tyre

    60 is side wall depth

    14 is rim size

    h is  speed rating

  7. as per desert camel , H means the speed rating

  8. the 60 is a ratio, means the sidewall is 60% as high as the tread width (in this case, the tread width is 205 mm)

  9. The first number is the width, then the profile of the tyre, then the size and the letter is the speed rating. So for you tyre it's 205mm wide 60mm of profile (height of tyre wall) R14 means (radial) 14 inch wheel. H is the speed rating (131)

    Speed     Approx MPH
