  1. People use it to mean made of?

    Example:

They consist of eggs and a little milk.

He wants the details of the home schooling program, such as who supplies the books, how do you get PE credits, does the school have any tests they have to administer to check progress, is school tutoring available if needed, what will he have to do.

  2. what it's made up of, what it includes,.

    dictionary.com:

to be made up or composed (usually fol. by of): This cake consists mainly of sugar, flour, and butter.

  3. It means what does it contain? What is it made of?

He is asking you what is it exactly that makes up homeschooling?

  4. Have you tried a dictionary? "Consist of" in this context means..what is the plan...what can be expected...what will you be doing,exactly..Who will supervise you...etc.

Why did you not ask your Dad to further explain his question?

Sounds as though you are avoiding his question. If this is how you deal with life, your Dad may have concerns over your immaturity and irresponsibility. Home schooling requires more from a sudent than regular school. It also requires more from your parents. Also, you will miss out on the other important lessons school has to offer, like social skills.

  5. It means what is it. How do you go about doing it and what is involved in it. He wants to know all about it, and how you do it.

  6. Literally it means 'made up of' - so you might say that a PC consists of a monitor, a keyboard and the computer itself. In this case, your father is asking 'what is involved in home schooling' - that is, what tasks and requirements 'make up', so to speak, home schooling.
