What does 'HEAT' and 'COLD' types of food mean scientifically ?

I have noticed people say that this food is 'heat' and this is 'cold' . But they are not talking about the temperature it is in . Can you tell me what this means ?

  1. Hot and cold foods are concepts that come out of Oriental medicine, where you have to balance the forces of yin and yang in your body to remain healthy. I know very little on the subject, other than snippets from my grandma who warned me eating too many hot foods will damage my liver and result in boils in my mouth, while too much cold food will give me the chills.


  2. hot and cold is like acidic n alkaline food.....if u eat more alkaline food its call hot coz it will increase ur metabolism

    if cold its acidic coz it can cause diesease n bad to ur health
