Sorry for the stupid question .... I'm assuming it means you can keep time in two different time zones, but when I look at the watches that say they have this feature, I can't tell where you'd see the 'second time'. Any help would be most appreciated!

  1. Dual time means that you can keep track of time in 2 different time zones at the same time.

Another name that's used in the watch industry for a watch that can keep track of 2 time zone's is a watch with a "GMT" function.

    Here's a picture:

In that picture, the hand on the watch that is used for the second time zone is the long arrow shaped hand. The long arrow shaped hand is the Hour hand for the second time zone.

    Here's another picture:

On this Rolex, the GMT hand (second time zone hand) is the green hand that is shaped like an Arrow on the end at the 5 o' clock position.

The easiest way to tell which hand is the second time zone hand is to look at the hands on the watch. Usually the second time zone hand will be a different color or different shape than the other hands used for the normal time zone.

  2. Yes, dual means two time zones.  Usually, you have to press a sequence of buttons to display or change the secondary time, but once it is displayed, it stays displayed (Timex shows a "T2" in the corner of some watches) until you cancel that mode.  It's rare to find a watch that shows both zones simultaneously.
