What does 'exfoliate' mean?

i'm about to use a tanning lotion from bath and body works, and before any sort of tanning thing i'm supposed to exfoliate. what does that mean?

  1. It means it gets rid of dead skin cells. Making you skin smoother and healthier looking. ( :


  2. You use an exfoliating wash to remove dead cells. It's pretty much a cleanser with little beads in it that clean out your pores.

  3. its a body wash that is a scrub. It contains rocks/beads in it that remove the dead skin build up on your body. If you dont remove it and put self tanner on, the dead skin will make the self tanner look blotchy and orange for it sticks to the ead skin. You want the lotion ot ABSORB into the skin to look natural and even, dead skin blocks moisutre from absorbing.

    Exfoliate only ONCE TO TWICE a week, more will damage the skin.
