What does 5 mp mean on a cam. does it mean hd or what?

If it meant HD, then it would say HD. The 5 MP is mega pixels. The higher the mega pixel the better the pictures will look.

The actual resolution dimensions may vary depending on the model.

If you're interested and you already know the image resolution you can test the calculation yourself.
