  1. its the diameter of the s***w,  as in thickness  the smaller the number the thinner it is.


  2. It refers to the weight of the s***w. Basically an 8 is heavier than a 6. Go look at some in a hardware store such as LOWES and you'll be able to tell the difference.

    If you had #6's and the holes became stripped, but the length could not be altered, you would go to #8's of the same length.

  3. basicly it's the size of the shank of the s***w, how big around.

    And it it's a robertson, it tells the size of screwdriver bit.
