  1. English Language:

4 pieces of written coursework: (20%)

    Shakespeare

    Prose Study (a pre-1914 novel)

Media (writing assignment e.g. analysis of an advert, scene from a film, writing a review etc)

Original Writing (students often write a short story).

3 pieces of speaking and listening coursework (20%)

    Exam (60%)

    2 exams

Paper 1: Reading assessment on unseen material and a writing task on persuade/argue/advise.

Paper 2: Comparison question on poems you have studied in class (cultures and traditions) from an anthology. Also involves a writing task on inform/explain/describe.

    English Literature

Coursework (30%) 3 written pieces (you can use the Shakespeare and Prose Study from English Language as two of them) the final piece on modern drama (post 1914)

Exam (70%): One exam in two sections.  One section is a question on a novel you will have studied in class or a selection of short stories from the anthology, the other is on another part of the poetry from the anthology (you will also study the poems in class prior to the exam)

I hope this is useful.  I think the course is pretty good but there is far too much poetry and it can be difficult to get through all the poems with a class.

  2. you have to learn  the diffent poems sections in the provide aqa anthology, then there is questions about it in the exams and you compare poems which have the same theme or punchline bascally, then in paper two you have two write two essays, one is wen u read an article and describe the effects of the presentationaldevices, thats the exams, in the coursework u will have two write about three pieces, one about media, one shakespear play, and 1 creative writing

  3. i did aqa english, getting my results tomorrow!!!!!!!!!1

basically you study poems from an anothology, you have 5 pieces of coursework

    oral

    original writing

    shakespeare

    media

    poetry - or something else

the coursework is something like 25%

and in class you spend a lot of time with the play and poery.

the exam involves comparing two media texts. and there are two writing tasks, one analysis and comparison and one explain and describe

its not too bad once you get into it

  4. The AQA board  requires you to study an assortment of poems in the anthology and analyse their techniques of  smlt. Which is structure, message, language and tone. They also make ou look into the mice of men books or king of the castle depending on what your school has pick to study. You use SMLT to study those. DUring the course for activities you are given trivia on certain poems to help you recongnise and catagorise them which is helpful for the test.
