Question:

What does AT&T have to do with hockey?

Okay, so now there's been three or four AT&T questions that have been misdirected to the Hockey Section. I fail to see what connection there could be between AT&T and hockey. Am I missing something here? (Grr, stupid updates!)

Anyway. The lack of hockey news lately is a killer. What especially hurts my head these days though is "news" about no news. Like the "news" about Mats Sundin not having made a decision yet. What? That's not news. Nothing has changed, so it would be the same to not report anything (as there's nothing to report!).

Speaking of that particular situation, today I read a Yahoo! article about retiring or not retiring that I thought was short but okay (has some wise words from Stevie Y and Joe Nieuwendyk): http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AtWMWGTOt0hdrVOYhMeL7MJ7vLYF?slug=cp-nhl_retirement_advice&prov=cp&type=lgns

  1. You know there is a perfectly good reason for that, Erica. Since the new season will be starting soon enough a lot of rookies will be scoring their first goal. And what's the first thing a rookie does when he scores his first NHL goal? That's right, he phones home. And which carrier is he most likely to use? That's right, AT&T. Right now during the silly season GMs are phoninh each other trying to make those all important deals, and who is providing the long distance service that is so overwhelmingly preffered by NHL general managers all accross America? Right again, AT&T. So remember, next time you're in the market for a long distance provider, don't go with some wannabe, fly by night, Sprint to the bank, company.  Do what the pros do. go with the big guys, go AT&T.

  6. Maybe they were referring to Lidstrom or Rob Davisons "Long distance" goals.
