  1. Bill of Sale is to show that you the customer, paid for the vehicle. The title will transfer within a week or two. Typically the dealer will provide you with temporary registration in case your pulled over, they will place it on the windshield.

  2. The bill of sale is a fancy name for receipt. It shows the transfer or right of ownership. The only official way to prove ownership, though, is always your TITLE.

  3. It is a legal binding receipt, and you will often need one to register the car.

  4. Since you took delivery, then assuming the financing is approved (or you paid cash), you will just wait for the paperwork to be processed. You'll want to keep the bill of sale as well as proof of insurance, and the registration of any traded vehicle (if you did a plate swap). Depending on the state, the dealership might be required to get your tags for you. Good luck and you can email if you have questions.
