Question:

What does Britain produce? Why is the Pound so powerful?

I don't even know of anything that I would consider traditional British exports. Their auto industry is owned by foreigners, three of their top four football teams are owned by foreigners, their entertainment industry is semi-flourishing, but how far can you get with Ricky Gervaise, Jude Law and Amy Winehouse as your most valuable exports? I know they must produce something the world values, because the Pound is so powerful. What is that?

  1. Machinery and transport, manufactured goods and chemicals are Britain's largest export earners. Since the 1970s, oil has contributed significantly to Britain's overseas trade, both in exports and a reduced need to import oil. BP is one of Britain's biggest companies and one of the three largest integrated energy companies in the world.
