  1. CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)

  2. No, it doesn't delete software.

Most of the stuff it deletes are temporary files that your programs don't need anymore, like temporary internet files and the like.

As for the registry cleaner, CCleaner is enough.

  3. It is the only registry cleaner I trust. It also does not scam you into paying for services you need. You can use it to remove history from applications and from Windows. It has an uninstaller which will remove programs the add/remove programs can not see. It can also clean up the registry after a progam removal, a virus or spyware infection, or just after a time where various Windows actions leave unused entries on the machine.

  4. CCleaner only removes the junk files that accumulate on your drive, it does not remove any program files.  The Refistry cleaner is pretty good and also creates a backup copy and should the changes that you make have a detrimental effect on any programs simply restore the backup by going to My Documents and right click on the .REG file created and select 'Merge'. It is always a good idea to create abackup of your Registry prior to cleaning. Simply open the 'Run' command, type in regedit and click OK.

When the Registry Editor opens select File > Export and in new window click My Documents, ensure that 'All' is selected at bottom under Export Range and then give the file a name and then click Save.

To restore simply open Reg Editor, clcik File > Tools and then Import and browse to the saved file.
