i'm looking for an all purpose lens from Canon to go with either the canon XS or XTi that i'm going to buy, i've heard a lot of good things about Nikon's 18-200mm VR lens , which of Canon's lens would be the closest to that in terms of focal range and f/number?

  1. I'm not especially advocating this and you can read review3s and make up your own mind, but Sigma has an image stabilized 18-200 lens for digital cameras with the APS-C size sensor (XTi, XSi, etc) for $500: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/48...

It doesn't have quie the range, but this Canon lens is very popular and very good quality for $515: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/35...

    Worth a look - I love my comparable lens (Nikon 17-55 f/2.8): http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/42...

  2. You can get the 28-300 lens. But its a tad spendy http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/541167...

Canon also has a 28-200 lens but no IS. http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/541162...
