  1. Ok, I am Colombian and I will tell you  what means the flag of Colombia:

The yellow color means the wealth that found the Spanish conquerors when arriving at our earth.

The blue color means the oceanos that surround our earth: The pacific and atlantic oceans.

The red color represents the blood that spilled the conquerors to free the country that at the moment is called Colombia.

Excuse for my english... good luck!!

  2. Ask Shakira.  She'd know.

  3. I'm part Colombia but i live in America. and sadly i don't know.

  4. those are the official stories, but the real story is very different and funny. Francisco de Miranda (the creator of the flag for Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela) travelled a lot all around the world. he was in the frech revolution and in the usa's independence. he was also in russia for some time. there she felt in love of a russian women, and promise her (we latins always so romantic jeje) that he was going to create the flag of his country inspired in her beauty. so, the yellow represents her hair. blue her eyes and red her lips. so what they teach us in school is all false. i prefer this story rather than the other. interesting isn't it?

  5. DESCRIPTION

The current flag of Colombia was officially adopted on December 17, 1819.

The flag features three horizontal bands of yellow (double-width), blue and red. Colors of the flag are commonly interpreted in two ways:

One version indicates that the yellow symbolizes sovereignty and justice, blue as loyalty and vigilance, and red represents the valor shown and the victory achieved during the battles for independence from Spain.

A very popular children's song claims that yellow represents the gold Colombia once owned until the arrival of the Spanish, blue indicates the country's contact with two oceans and red represents the blood that Colombians spent in their struggle for independence from Spain.

  6. Yellow: Colombian mineral resources (yellow=gold).

Blue: Colombian hidrical resources (rives, lakes, oceans).

Red: The blood and sacrifice the colombian heroes spent in the independence war.
