  1. Congress is the voter-elected legislative body that exists to introduce and pass laws in the best interest of society*.  This way, when someone proposes a aw to be passed, the people don't have to go and vote every time.  That can be very time consuming and expensive.

    Therefore, the members of Congress are elected to represent us.

    *Obviously, sometimes Congress doesn't always do the above, but this is the general idea of Congress.
