  1. Contact your state DOC and inquire on the training standards. You can contact your local college that offers this degree and ask for info. My degree is in Criminal Justice Law Enforcement, some of my friends have their corrections degree, and I know they need 60+ credits and tactical training to work in this field. An academy is condenced training, you need to contact the info I have stated above.


  2. The physical part is only a small part of any academy including corrections. You have lots of homework as you have to learn the laws in detail, you have some medical information you must learn and also the county/state rules and regulations regarding the treatment of customers ( i mean inmates, I get so confused as you now have to treat prisoners like they are in a hotel).

    Not many presentations but a lot of law learning and rules and regulations.  It is mental as much as it is physical
