What does :D and :P mean?

everyone is using :D and :P in there texts they send me, can someone hip tell me what this means so I don't look stupid to my friends? thanks

:D is when they are happy about something and :P is a figure sticking its tongue out

:D  means like "yay!" or "im excited" or just that they're really happy

:P  means that you're sticking your tongue out as if you were joking around or its just there to let the person know what you said is silly

examples:  

"i cant wait to go to the concert with you! :D"

"really? :D no way!"

"i had the best day today :D"

"lol whatever you know you're lying :P"

"and then i slipped and fell right on my butt in front of everyone :P"

If you turn your head sideways to the left you will notice that they are facial expressions. :D is someone smiling and :P is someone sticking their tongue out, usually means joking around.
