  1. I'm not sure that they have a definite answer to your question yet. There seems to be a lot of research going on about it right now.  This site will give you a pretty good summery of what is going on with the machinery of methylation and cancer.

  2. the DNA methylation is one of the process on completing the DNA replication. if it is stopped than so will the process. it means that the cancer is slowing down. because the cancer gene is replicating rapidly and taking the same path of DNA replication. I know this from my molecular genetics class.

  3. Not knowing that much about it as I'm a farmer of sorts in the Agriculture section, it seems to be the cause of the problem and a way needs to be found to stop it, and thereby stop the cancer. Methylation will block the genes that control how the body responds, how it fights. You might get more response in Medicine section. We're all to worried about the environment (just kidding, and I had to look it up, I ain't that smart).
