What does Formatting your laptop do?

i hear people saying that they need to format their laptops, what is is? and what does it do?

It restores your computer to it's original state, what I mean is that it deletes everything in your C disk, that is software, data, everything, including errors and viruses, which is the main reason a lot of people format their computers, and leaves only the software that came originally, basically it leaves the computer in the same way that it was when you bought it.

Formatting the laptop means formatting the Hard Drive which means erasing all the data on the hard drive including the boot sector, operating system and any other data on the hard drive.
